Missouri divides felonies into five classes — A, B, C, D, and E — with class A carrying a possible life sentence and class E starting at up to four years. Which class applies to your charge, and whether it can be reduced or dismissed before it ever reaches a jury, depends on facts prosecutors often get wrong the first time. That gap is where a felony case gets won.

Why a Felony Charge Changes Everything

A felony conviction in Missouri can cost you more than prison time. Firearm rights, professional licenses, housing applications, and certain jobs are all affected long after a sentence ends. Prosecutors know this leverage exists, and it shapes how aggressively they charge a case from the start.
